Funeral services celebrating the life of Owen Cleatus Ross, 97, of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2023. He died in his home on July 20, 2023. His son, Rev. R. Don Ross, will be officiating the service in the Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe. Interment with military honor guard will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
He was a member of the Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church. He retired as a Monroe City Fire Department Captain. As a World War II Navy Veteran, he served on the U.S.S. Rockingham.
While O. C. did woodworking, repaired different kinds of motors, and played cards, he really loved fishing. He taught his sons to have pride in whatever work they did, and to always do their best. He definitely had his preferences but met life with a strong smile or grin. He was a good neighbor & a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ross, special friend, Louise Hennon, and son, Bobby Wayne Ross.
Survivors include: sons, Cleatus Owen Ross, Jr. and his wife, Vickie; Rev. Robert Don Ross and his wife, Ann; Daughter-in-law, Jackie Ross. Grandchildren: Cleatus O. Ross (Tricia), Tamara Scott, Brian Dehler (Jamie), Maegan Ross, Robert Earl Ross (Holly), Sharon Denise Mangrum (Bradley), Wanda Lea Crum (Ken), Jennifer Nicole Ross, Heather Bonita Gagnon (Kevin), and Nicholas Wayne Ross. In addition he had 25 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren. He was blessed with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
