Patrick Andrew Fleming, of
Chicago, IL, departed from this world on October 11, 2024, at the age of 66. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments. Andrew adored those closest to him and devoted his personal and professional life to helping others. He was a lauded lawyer and a prolific writer.
Born in Doncaster, England, Andrew attended Ratcliffe College and Leeds University. He immigrated to the United States to pursue a career in law, attending Kent Law School in Chicago in 1982. Andrew was eternally grateful to his Chicago relatives, Auntie Nonnie (Nora Scannell), the Egans and the Shunts for their love and support as he pioneered a new life in America.
Andrew's passion for law and justice rang true through every aspect of his life. As an attorney at Novack and Macey for 35 years, he built a distinguished career, consistently recognized as one of Chicago's leading lawyers. In 2023, he became a partner at Armstrong Teasdale.
As charming as he was bright, Andrew had an enigmatic sense of humor and infectious charisma. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Leeds United. Among his coveted possessions are a Bears jersey and a signed Leeds United jersey from 1972, when a 14-year-old Andrew watched the team win the FA cup. His love of music was vast, spanning from the Pet Shop Boys to the Boston Pops. He enjoyed the warmth and camaraderie of a Sunday roast, complete with Yorkshire pudding (a must), traditional English breakfasts, family game nights and everything relating to Christmas. Those of us who had the honor of raising a glass at the authentic English pub in his basement consider ourselves lucky.
Andrew was a Knight of Magistral Grace in the Order of Malta, demonstrating his charitable efforts and big heart for helping others. He recently completed his debut novel, "Sold Out," which will be published by his daughter, Emily. Andrew would be the first to tell you to pre-order your copy.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Angela, father Paddy, brother Pete and sister Barbara. Andrew is survived by his wife Arynn, daughter Emily, son James, nephew Ed (Michelle), and many great-nephews and nieces, including Lauren and Alastair, whom he adored. His family will continue to honor Andrew's legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
He will be remembered for his loyalty and unwavering spirit for his work, family and friends. As a true Yorkshire man, Andrew would also want you to applaud his fantastic fiscal responsibility.
A wake will be held at Smith Corcoran Funeral Home,6150 N Cicero, Chicago on Friday, October 25, from 3-7 pm. Family and friends will meet on Saturday, October 26, at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N Sauganash Ave., Chicago for Funeral Mass at 11:30 am.
