On November 9, 2023, Pamela Fox Donnahoo, 68 of Micaville, North Carolina, slipped the surly bonds of Earth and peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home. Pam was at home surrounded by her family. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to many. On behalf of all those who knew her, to paraphrase the author Mitch Albom, "We loved you every day. And now, we will miss you every day."
Pam was born on December 9, 1954, to the late Jess and Joyce Fox of Green Mountain. With her sister Sue Ann, Pam lived in a Christian home full of warmth, love and laughter. Pam graduated from Cane River High School in 1973. While working at the bank, she met the love of her life, Charles Ray, and the two married in April 1976 and remained best friends and soulmates until the moment she took her last breath. The other great love of her life were her children, Shanna and Chad. Pam was an exceptionally devoted mother and dedicated her life to her children's happiness and well-being. Rarely did a day pass that she did not talk with them. Pam treated her son-in-law, Jeremy, and her nephew, Zach, like they were her own children.
Pam worked and retired from Yancey County Schools. She spent most of her career at Mountain Heritage High School as a pre-school teacher where she taught and loved many children over her tenure. Even to this day, she is fondly remembered by many as Ms. Pam. She was a member of Covy Rock Freewill Baptist Church where she played the piano, organ and sang in the church choir. She was a devout Christian, who loved her church and her church family.
Pam is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Charles Ray Donnahoo of the home; her children Shanna Winters (Jeremy) of Micaville and Chad Ray Donnahoo of Weaverville; her sister Sue Ann Pittman (preceded in death by Gerald Pittman) of Burnsville; and nephew Zach Pittman (Lindsey), of Mountain City, Tennessee. Just as important to her, Pam loved her many family pets through the years, among them Benji, Motsie Totsie, Maggie Mae and Lily Boo Boo.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ciji Dellinger, RN, of Hospice and Home Care of the Blue Ridge, Pam's final caregiver, and Pam Robinson, one of her closest friends. Both remained by Pam's side in her last moments of need and comfort. Pam's family also wants to thank the staff at The Greens at Weaverville.
Pam's funeral service will be held on November 18, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Covy Rock Freewill Baptist Church, 7130 State Highway 197 N, Green Mountain, NC, 28740, and officiated by Rev. Marvin Hensley. A visitation with the family will precede the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pam's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care Home Care of the Blue Ridge, www.hospiceblueridge.com, or The Michael J.
