ObituaryGary W. Donnahoo, resident to Ken Caryl, Colorado, Airline Pilot and Air Force Veteran, passed away on August 28th, 2021 at the age of 64, in the ICU after a month-long battle with covid.
Gary is survived by his wife, Tammy; his children, Lauren, Mark, Christie and Daniel; his siblings, Doug, Larry, Brian and Karen; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was born on March 6, 1957 in Washington D.C. to George and Mary Donnahoo. He graduated from UCLA in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics; while attending UCLA he was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.
Shortly after graduating from UCLA, Gary joined the Air Force and served from 1979 to 1987. He was a part of the 80-05 Pilot Training Group at Williams Air Force Base and after graduating Flight School in 1980, he served three tours as a USAF F-4 Fighter Pilot. Gary earned numerous medals and achievements and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. After his military career, Gary joined American Airlines in 1988 and served as Captain until he became ill.
Gary was a devoted father and husband and a proud grandfather to Bryson which he adored. You could catch him on his mountain bike, hiking various trails, walking his dogs or heading to the mountains for a weekend getaway with his wife, Tammy. He was a Shakespeare enthusiast and loved to listen to Frank Sinatra and other live music.
Gary will be deeply missed by friends, family, co-pilots and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, September 17th at 12pm MST. A reception will immediately follow at Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Freedom Service Dogs: https://freedomservicedogs.org/donatefsd/
