I would like to remember and celebrate the life of someone who meant the world to me-my Mom, Pamela Sharon (Porter) Engstrom.
She was the most generous, loving, thoughtful, and genuine person I´ve ever known. A woman with a sentimental heart and a soul full of kindness, she lived her life by always thinking of others first, often putting their needs before her own.
What I´ll always carry with me is her wonderful sense of humor-the kind that could light up a room and make even the toughest moments easier to bear. Her deep love for animals showed her compassion for all living things. And when I was struggling in my early adulthood, without hesitation, she was there-steadfast, nurturing, always coming to the rescue like only she could.
Mom inherited wisdom from her own parents, often reminding me to slow down and enjoy life-because, in her words, "it sucks getting old." She understood the beauty in the little things and taught me to embrace them too.
She was a remarkably creative spirit-a gifted craft artist who poured love, care, and intricate detail into every item she made. From keepsake stuffed animals to cozy quilts and afghan blankets, her work wasn´t just craftsmanship-it was heart-made art.
But perhaps what most defined her was her resilience. Mom never stopped learning, growing, and adapting-even in the final chapters of her life. Through it all, she held on to her positivity, her curiosity, and her joy for the world around her.
She was more than a mother. She was a teacher, a helper, a healer, and a spark of light in so many lives, especially mine. I hope, with all my heart, that everyone who remembers her sees not only the incredible things she created, but also the boundless love she gave.
Mom, I miss you more than words can ever say. But your spirit lives on-in every stitch of the crafts you made, in every laugh I can remember, and in every valuable lesson you taught me without even trying.
