Pamela Fischel Obituary
Pamela L. Fischel, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the age of 77, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Born on April 14, 1947, in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, Pamela was the beloved daughter of the late Benson Hartney, Jr. and Miriam (Zellner) Hartney. Her warm presence and nurturing spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Pamela's early years were spent in the town of her birth, where she graduated from Liberty High School. She pursued her passion for helping others by furthering her education at St. Luke's School of Nursing, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Pamela's dedication to learning continued at Lehigh County Community College (LCCC), where she earned an Associate Degree in Childcare. Her professional journey was a testament to her caring nature, as she worked at St. Luke's Health Network, Mary Ellen Convalescence, and Cedarbrook Fountain Hill Annex. Pamela also played a pivotal role in the Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) Pilot program for before and after school care and was a respected supervisor at Hanover Elementary.
Pamela's life was a reflection of her love for her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Jeni Toner and her husband John of Hellertown, and Kim Friend of Wilson, North Carolina. Her siblings, Benson B. Hartney, III and his wife Patti, Gary L. Hartney and his wife Susan, and Wendy Stehly and her husband Chuck, all of Bethlehem, will fondly remember their sister's laughter and kindness. Pamela's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, Maggie, Jordan, Austin, and Bethany, who will carry her legacy of love and compassion forward.
Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional career. Pamela was an active member of Grace Church, where she found a community of faith that supported her and enriched her life. Her adventurous spirit led her to join Youth with a Mission, where she traveled to The Netherlands, further demonstrating her desire to make a positive impact on the world.
Services: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday August 28, 2024 at Grace Church- 4301 Hecktown Road, Bethlehem, PA 18020, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will conclude services at Bethlehem Memorial Park- 1851 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. A memory tribute may be made at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.

Ben, Gary, and Wendy,
As I mentioned in my note to Jeni and Kim, I just discovered your sister´s notice in the paper. The Bethlehem Press doesn´t print notices as often as I would like, hence this belated message. Please accept my sincere heartfelt sympathy. I pray that the Lord will sustain you with His love and comfort, knowing Pam is with Jesus. There´s no better place to be.

Jeni and Kim,
I didn´t know of your mom´s passing until today when I read it in the Bethlehem Press. I am so sorry. If I had known, I would have attended her service. I´ve known your mom since we were teens, or even younger, at Wesley Church, and then in later years we attended the same Bible Study group. Unfortunately, as time passed contact with each other diminished, as is not uncommon sometimes, as life interrupts. While we were part of the Wesley youth group, the teens made weekend trips most Summers to Ocean Grove, NJ, and we always had fun, as well as on other activities, such as bowling, car washes, hoagie sales, and more. She often updated me on your skating and acting adventures. It was a joy to hear about how you girls were progressing in your respective `hobbies´.
Please know that my heart is broken for you that remain, but we know she no longer must deal with the pain and trials of this world, and is in the precious arms of Jesus, her Saviour. I pray that the Lord will give you the strength and the peace that only He can give. My love to you both.

Pam was a friend of mine from First Presbyterian Church. We were in a Christian Fellowship group, Voyagers.
She sang at our wedding on August 7,1993. Now my husband Maury who passed on to eternity, August 7, 2020, will be united eternally with Pam through Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior! My heartfelt prayers continue to be with Pam and her Loving family!
A Legacy Memorial Tree will be planted in memory of Pam!
In His Love,
Kathy Heller
