I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing."
– 2 Timothy 4:7-8
In Loving Memory of Pamela Ann Morrison
Sunrise: July 7, 1952 – Sunset: May 7, 2025
Pamela Ann Morrison, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Sister Mean," transitioned to her eternal home on May 7, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 72.
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."
– Psalm 30:5
Pamela was born on July 7, 1952, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Joe M. Bogen Sr. and Nancy Harris. She was the eldest daughter among nine siblings. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Era Baptist Church in Morgan City, Louisiana, where she also served as an usher under the leadership of Pastor Theadore Franklin.
A 1970 graduate of Morgan City High School, Pamela continued her education at Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies and Library Science in 1975. She went on to dedicate 34 1/2 years of service to the Terrebonne Parish School Board, where she impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues.
In 1980, Pamela began her lifelong journey with her devoted husband of 45 years, Samuel Ivory Morrison Jr. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, welcoming their beloved daughter, Shamika. Pamela's greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones, especially her two cherished granddaughters, Alaysia and Aaliyah.
Pamela had a deep love for the Word of God. She faithfully supported Mt. Era Baptist Church, Christian Church and Living in the Light Ministry. She found joy in reading Scripture, teaching, watching the news and her favorite TV shows, capturing special moments through photos, and fellowshipping with her dear friends in the "Classic Ladies" club. She was the heart and matriarch of her family-strong, loving, and wise.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Her loving husband, Samuel Ivory Morrison Jr.; her daughter, Shamika Ann Morrison; and her granddaughters, Alaysia J. Grady and Aaliyah J. Morrison, all of Morgan City, LA. Four godchildren, Shalon Ledet, Kizzy(Hank) Gage, Amari Garrett and Cheromique Delaney.
She is also survived by one sister, Regina Holder of Patterson, LA; three brothers: Overseer Donald (Lena) Bogen Sr. of Thibodaux, LA, Gregory Carter, and Don (Anna) Carter Sr., both of Patterson, LA; one sister-in-law, Dora (John) Cooper of Morgan City, LA; two brothers-in-law, Lester (Walterene) Morrison of New Orleans, LA, and Freddie (Deborah) Morrison of Lafayette, LA; three aunts, Brenda Van Buren of New Orleans, LA, and Debra Conley of Gray, LA; Joan Carol (Henry) Rochelle, four uncles: James Bogen Sr., Barry (Octavia) Bogen, and Ronald Bogen, all of Houma, LA, and Alvin Bogen of Gibson, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe (Nelwyn) Bogen Sr. and Nancy (Joseph) Carter; three sisters, Tammy Carter, Veronica Lynn Nash, and Audrey Carter Williams; four brothers, Michael Jones, Jimmy Carter, Sean Carter, and Joe Murphy "BoBo" Bogen Jr.; her grandparents, Herman and Rose Mary Bogen and Richard and Louise Harris; one niece, Peggy Williams; two great-nieces, Lakiesha Williams and Zyanna Zea Martin; two nephews, Dallon Toe Lyles and Delveore Nash; six aunts, Catherine Bogen, Lucille Mahoney, Ora Mae Martin, Jonisilee Nisby, Margaretha Livas, and Willie Mae Harris Oten; and three uncles, Freddie Bogen, Herman Bogen Jr., and John Bogen Sr.
Pamela's life was a testament to faith, family, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
