On November 24th, 2025, Pamela Leigh Norris Wasmund, 69, from Oak Harbor, passed away at Skagit Valley Hospital, after a hard fought 19-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born in Seattle, November 29, 1955, Pam spent her early years attending school and spending numerous weekends on Whidbey Island. Pam graduated from Shoreline High School in 1974. Pam then attended classes at North Seattle Community College for some time but found out that she did not enjoy the college atmosphere. After that she began working full time in various retail settings, including Fred Meyer in North Seattle. In 1976, while attending the wedding of two of her classmates, she met Mike Wasmund, a young 3rd class petty officer in the US Navy. In January of 1977, Mike and Pam married, and she embarked on 19 years as a military spouse, stationed at NAS Whidbey Island and NAS Moffett Field in Mountain View California. During this time, she began working at the Navy Exchange in Oak Harbor in the warehouse and receiving department.
In December of 1984 she gave birth to her only child, Mark Evan. Pam loved being a mom and was always involved in Mark's schooling and extracurricular activities. Pam served as league director for several years for Oak Harbor Youth Soccer and was the "team mom" for several soccer and baseball teams. She would often take other teammates to games and tournaments and would always care for them like one of her own. Mike retired from the Navy in 1995, and they settled permanently in Oak Harbor. Pam worked as a merchandiser for pre-recorded video, music, and computer programs, progressing thorough the ranks to become District Manager for EURPAC warehouse sales for the northwest district. Pam was medically forced to Retire from the company after completing 20 years. In her retirement, Pam enjoyed crocheting, shopping on QVC, snuggling with her dog Snickers, and best of all, spending time with and spoiling her grand babies Evan, McKenna, and Lindy. As a beloved member of her community, she could not go into a store, or attend an appointment, without running into someone she knew. And of course, she had to share all the new photos of her grand babies.
Pam is survived by her husband Mike, son Mark (Bekah), her sisters Pennee (Mike) Mecham, and Cheri Griggs (Lee) Smith, stepchildren, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
