Parks "Pete" Owens
March 26, 1946 – December 10, 2025
Parks "Pete" W. Owens, age 79, of
Temperance, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital in
Monroe, Michigan.
Born on March 26, 1946 in
Monroe, Michigan, Pete was the son of the late Hubert and Tempie (Crutchfield) Owens. Pete attended and graduated from Mason High School. Pete could think of nothing he would rather do than serve in the military and proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1965 and went on to serve his country honorably in the Vietnam War. When back home in 1969, Pete met the love of his life, Carlaine Gotha and in July of 1970 they were married. Ever the family man, Pete went from active duty to the Air Force Guard Unit to stay close to both families. He proudly served at the 180 th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard (180 th Afterburners) in Lucas County, Ohio until he retired from the guards after 20 years of service. During that time, Pete also attended and graduated with an Associates degree in Business from Davis Business College in Toledo, Ohio.
Together, Pete and Carlaine raised three children. They were married 55 years before "Pete" passing. Along with working at the Air base in Ohio, Pete was employed at GM in Toledo, Ohio for 35 years. He officially retired from GM on April the 1 st – yes, on April fools day. He was forever the jokester, he loved to tease those he liked and especially those he loved. Family and friends loved him and he made new friends wherever he went. Though he loved his children dearly, "Papa's" pride and joy were his 7 wonderful grandchildren. He loved every moment he got to share with them and loved nothing more than being able to watch them in all their sports and activities.
Pete was a member of the local UAW Union and the VFW Hall throughout his life and was an avid fan of Antique Cars, Airplanes, Football, and spending time outdoors whether just working in the yard and garden or tinkering in the garage and around the house.
To honor and cherish his memory, he leaves his wife: Carlaine Owens, his three children: Shellie (Chad) Donbrosky, Parks Owens, and Bruce (Melissa) Owens, and 7 grandchildren. Dear brother of Bernie (Dorthy) Owens.
Along with his parents, Pete is proceeded in death by 5 siblings: brothers; John (Carole) Owens, Fred Owens, Bill Owens, Ernie (Ann) Owens and sister, Shirley Owens.
