Patrick Dean Flynn, known as "Fred" to those closest to him, passed away on January 14, 2025, in Franklin, NE. He was born on August 22, 1961, in Broken Bow, NE, the youngest of three sons to Elliott "Tex" Flynn and Bonnie (Secor) Shaul.

In his early years, Patrick could often be found following his older brothers, Mike and Casey, around their hometown. Later in life, he moved to Woodlake, NE, where he lived with his mother and stepfather, Allen Shaul. Patrick graduated from high school there before embarking on a career in industrial construction as a carpenter and pipefitter. His work took him across the country to Florida and Texas, though he always made time to return to Nebraska for family gatherings and holidays.

He eventually settled in Broken Bow after working as a supervisor at the Ravenna Ethanol Plant for Austin Industrial—a role in which he was proud to be the first employee on-site. Later, he was employed by Myers Construction, in which he will forever be a part of the “Myers Construction work family known as Patty Cakes”. He became a familiar face around town and was known for his friendly greetings and catching up on County news at Trotter’s Whoa & Go and the City Café. Patrick was a loyal person to many people, whether it be family or friends, and if you knew Pat, he was quite outspoken about his loyalties.

A devoted fan of Husker football, Patrick enjoyed participating in local football pools and cheering on his team. He also enjoyed working with vehicles and boats. To most of us, these vehicles looked like junk, but every vehicle he purchased and tinkered with was a treasure to him. During the last few years, Patrick had a good time camping around the Custer County area and the Calamus Reservoir, he was even able to spend a couple of winters in Texas, camping with his Texas friends, in route to Texas he would like to stay across the way of a “Waffle House”. One of his favorite places to eat.

His sense of humor and love for life will be deeply missed and Patrick’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Survivors include his brother, Casey (Tammy) Flynn of Broken Bow, two sisters Misty Anderson of Hastings, and Shannon LaBounty of CA, stepfather Allen Shaul of Blue Hill, Uncle Edward "Butch" (Wanda) Secor of Saint Cloud, FL, Aunt Pat Rankin Koch of Waukesha, WI, niece and nephews, Sadye (Andy) Taylor, Travin Flynn, Lana (Jeff) Burnett, EJ (Lindy) Flynn, Madysen Shaul, Brooklyn Shaul, and Sadie Wooters, and several great nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents Bonnie Shaul, Tex (JoAnn) Flynn, and brother Mike Flynn.
