On Thursday, June 19, 1975 a beautiful Spring Day, Patrice Renee Bates was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. She later in life became Patrice Bates Woods and then later in life became Patrice Renee Stewart. On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, her will and the will of God were united again, and she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Patrice was baptized at First Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church in Northwest, Washington, DC.
Patrice graduated from Largo High School. She then Attended Bowie State University and studied Elementary Education. Patrice became a teacher at Hazelwild Farms Country Day School in Fredericksburg, Va after relocating there in 2000. She was the Youth Director for a period of time at the Lords Church in Woodbridge, Va. She then changed careers and accepted a job at Clarivate Analytics in Alexandria, Va as an Executive Assistant until the time of her passing. Patrice enjoyed traveling, cooking, and having family gather at every holiday. She was an exceptional Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Daughter always putting her family first. Once she set her mind to do something there was no stopping her. She made friends wherever she went. She loved to laugh and try new restaurants. She would then go home and master some of the dishes she had tried. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas because she knew every Christmas Eve she would have her family there to dress in Christmas pajamas and take pictures.
Patrice leaves to cherish her loving memory, Husband; Michael Stewart, Children; Kamerin, Nicholas, and Jayden, two Grandsons Bryson and Draylen, Mother; Vivian Hogan, Father; Les (Genesis) Bates, Sr; Brother; Les (Jordan) Bates Jr. Sister; Gabrielle Bates, Aunts; Juanita (Keith) Lightfoot, Debra Nickens, Janelle Goffigan and Stefan Madison, Uncle; John (Janice) Hogan, Burnell Nickens. Nephews; Austin and Brixton Bates. Great Aunt Neline Hankerson, Great Uncle; Herbert Murphy. Stepchildren; Mishaunti and Deonte Wheeler. Mother-In-Law; Elizabeth Stewart, Sister-In-Laws; Dorothy (Daniel) Lynch, Elizabeth (Keith) Stewart-Bowie, Jennifer (Stephen) Bynum. Special Cousins Keith, Cherita, Sania, Nichole, Nathen and Lynn. A host of other cousins, family, and friends that she held near and dear to her heart. She was proceeded in death by her Maternal Grandparents Shirley & Estelle Hogan, Paternal Grandparents Earl & Clarice Madison, Uncles, Willis and Noland Hogan.
"I just want to make sure you all are alright because I'm going to be ok."
