The funeral service for Patricia Ackerson, 90, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:00am, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Nicole Martin officiating. Burial will be at Green Lawn Cemetery, Redfield, SD. Patricia died Monday, August 4, at her home.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Patricia Ackerson was born November 4, 1934, to Clare and Sarah (Loerch) at Redfield, SD. She attended school and graduated from Redfield High School in May 1952. She married Richard Afdahl July 25, 1952, in Redfield where they lived. Four children were born to this union: Susan, Michael, Lisa, and Jeffery. In May 1955, they moved to Dallas, TX. She worked for three different banks in the Dallas area for 18 years, then went to work for Goodyear Tire Rubber Company for eight years. Richard passed away May 23, 1981, and she continued to live in Irving, TX. She married Ed Ackerson October 21, 1981, at Redfield, SD and lived in Bowdle, SD. When Ed retired in January 1992, they moved to Aberdeen, SD where she has lived since.
Patricia was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Peace Circle, several Bridge groups, and the Aberdeen Area Senior Citizen's Center.
Grateful for having shared Patricia's life are children: Susan & Ed Crawford, Bedford, TX, Michael & Terri Afdahl, Aberdeen, SD, Lisa Ray, Denison, TX and Jeffery & Teena Afdahl, Dubuque, IA; step-children: Tanya & David Huffman, Selby, SD, Steve & Kristi Ackerson, Aberdeen, SD, Mark Ackerson, Winter Haven, FL, Lori & Pat Dewald, Bowdle, SD; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Patricia in death are both of her husbands, parents, step-grandson, Andrew Ackerson, and three sisters, Elaine Gates, Dee Anderson, and Francelle Hoffman.
