Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Patricia Ann Akowskey, age 81. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. She was the devoted wife of the late James Michael Akowskey, Sr.
Patricia is survived by her six loving children: James Akowskey, Jr. (Tammy) of Mechanicsville, MD; Michael Akowskey (Julia) of Waldorf, MD; William Anthony Akowskey (Kelly Ann) of Vancouver, WA; Diana Ropel (Steve) of North Beach, MD; Tammy Economes (Michael) of Prince Frederick, MD; and Rebecca Gaynor (Lee) of Emporia, VA. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren. She was also the joyful great-grandmother of 16 great-grandchildren, with two more soon to arrive. She is also survived by her brother, James Desmond, and was preceded in death by her brothers, Timothy Desmond and Daniel Desmond.
Patricia faced the challenges of Parkinson’s disease with quiet courage and grace. Her strength and perseverance were a testament to her deep faith and unshakeable love for her family. She will be remembered for her warm heart, feistiness and the lasting legacy she leaves in those who knew and loved her.
