Patricia Ann Altmyer, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 4, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William Griffith, Margaret Griffith.
Patricia was the devoted wife and reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Robert E. Altmyer and she is survived by her cherished children: Michael Altmyer (Jo Anne), Brian Altmyer (Stacy), and Kathleen Hazen (Jeffrey). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Zachary, Monica (Max), Emily (Cole), Madison (Lawrence), Rebecca (Josh), Lindsay (Dylan), Mark (Morgan), Michael, and Nicole, and a treasured great-grandmother to Joshua, Hailee, Michael Robert, Johnny, Elouise Patricia and Elias.
Patricia had a gift for creating beauty with her hands and her heart. She made the most beautiful quilts, each one stitched with love and care, and she was always ready to help-whether it was sewing costumes for Halloween or lending her steady hand and patient wisdom on any project. Among her most treasured works was the wedding dress she made for her daughter, hand-embellished with over 17,000 beads, a labor of love that reflected both her patience and her artistry.
In her final days, she was surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. All of her grandchildren were present at the hospital, and her three children never left her side, showing the strength and closeness of the family, she built. Her sisters-in-law traveled long distances to be with her, a true testament of the bonds Patricia nurtured and the love she inspired. Even in those tender moments, there was laughter-something she always brought into our lives.
Patricia was a woman of quiet strength, warmth, and generosity, and her legacy of family, laughter, and love will continue to wrap around us-like one of her quilts-for years to come. Her life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, and generosity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Now, after 5 years apart, the quilter and her wood carver are back together forever.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229. A Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM, with the Reverend Nick Vascof officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Patricia Altmyer's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
