Patricia (Patty) Ray Parker-Burrell, age 80, of Princeton, formerly of Mullens, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Villages of Greystone in Beaver, WV after a valiant battle with dementia.
Born September 20, 1943, at Edgarton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cloyd Martin and Helen Kathleen Cunnigham-Parker.
Patty was of the Christian faith, was a 1961 graduate of Mullens High School, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She worked as a Telephone Operator at the C&P Telephone Company/Bell Atlantic company. In her leisure she enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, baking bread and sweet treats, an avid fondness for dogs, working in her flowers, bird watching, and after Chester and Patty retired, they enjoyed traveling to different places throughout the United States in their motorhome with their furry companions, TJ and Gabby.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life of 52 years, Chester James Burrell; her siblings, Sarita Parker-Francis, Jackie Parker, Merrill Parker, Sonia Parker-Shrewsbury, Okey Nadine Parker-Goodwin, and the late Wyoming County Sheriff C.S. “Sherrill” Parker, her father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Annabelle Hollar Burrell.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted nephew, Patrick R. Parker (Carl) and his four children: Hunter Graham; Parker Jace; Patrick Malachi; and Jack Isaiah, that had immeasurable affection for “Aunt Patty”, her ever faithful four legged companion, Toto, her sister-in-law, Charlotte Taylor-Parker, niece, Karen Parker-Vannoy, cousin, Bridget Beasley-Wilson, and a host of other family members and dear friends.
The family would like to express gratitude to Kristin Mullins, a special caregiver, Dr. Saad Zafar, the caring staff of Villages of Greystone and the team at Hospice of Southern West Virginia, for the love, care and support they provided Mrs. Burrell and her family.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Raleigh County, 325 Grey Flats Road, Beckley, West Virginia, 25801.
In keeping with Patty’s wishes, there will be no public services.
