Patricia Hight Copley, a loving mother and Nana, passed away peacefully with her three children by her side on January 24,2025. Pat was born in Louisburg, North Carolina, on April 5, 1938, the first of four children to Fred Colom and Priscilla West Hight. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years, B. Thomas Copley, her brothers Freddie Hight, Bill Hight and her brother - in - law Bob Copley. Pat is survived by her three children, Holli Hight Copley Wachtmeister (Hans), Thomas Jason Copley, Amanda Copley Wade (Ross), and her four grandchildren, Nathan Wachtmeister, Sofia Wachtmeister, Spencer Wade, and Harrison Wade. She is also survived by her brother, Philip Hight (Diane), sister- in- laws, Lou Hight, Laura Hight, and Anita Copley as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Upon graduation from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, Pat moved to Virginia Beach where she met Tom Copley. He was the love of her life and they were married in 1963. While teaching fourth grade, Pat continued her education earning a graduate degree from the College of William and Mary.
With the arrival of their children, Pat decided that she needed a more flexible schedule and pursued a career in Real Estate. It became her passion and she received many awards and recognition for her work. She particularly enjoyed helping first time homebuyers with many of her clients becoming lifelong friends.
Pat loved living in Virginia Beach, enjoyed spending hours on the beach, and often stated how lucky she and Tom were to have landed on such a special street at the North End to raise their family. The many neighborhood parties and dinners with dear neighbors and friends were a huge part of their lives.
Her grandchildren brought a great deal of joy to Pat ("Nana"). She was very proud of them and their accomplishments and was always happy to celebrate them.
For this strong, independent North Carolina woman, Virginia Beach had become home. However, Pat never forgot her North Carolina roots; for many years an annual reunion had been scheduled during the summer at Carolina Beach, leaving the family with warm and wonderful memories. Pat will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 1:00 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 36th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making contributions to an organization of your choice. Online condolences may be made at hdoliver.com

When we got our new office at Prudential Towne Realty , now Berkshire Hathaway RW Towne Realty on 22nd Street , I got to know Pat. I´d see her later in the day in the common area and she´d chat it up with me about real estate, life and love. I´d help her on the computer. She´d share old school realtor values. I think she was with the Goodman Seeger Hogan merge and it´s like we gained another family. A real kind and caring woman.
Love to Jason and the rest of the family. You´re lucky to have had her for a mom but i know you know this.

I will miss Pat...what a gracious, lovely, and genuine lady. Not to mention neighbor once we moved next door in 2006. We always enjoyed catching up and hearing the latest real estate news when we were in town. She and my husband Barry passed on the same day, Jan 24...I think both of them would be happy they share that special bond. RIP Pat, the world has a little less light without you.
