Patricia Dotson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium on Feb. 23, 2026.
On Friday, February 20, 2026, Patricia Lynn Dotson (Barbera) surrounded by her devoted husband, beloved son, and dear friends was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. Her earthly chapter closed gently, wrapped in love.

Born November 25, 1949, in South Beloit, Illinois, to Gene and Elaine (Berg) Barbera, Pattie wasted no time making her mark. She graduated from South Beloit High School as class president, at just 16 years old, proof that determination was stitched into her spirit early on. She later attended Rock Valley College, earning her Associate's Degree and continuing her lifelong pursuit of learning.

Pattie wore many hats throughout her life, sometimes balancing more than one job at a time. Yet her heart found its true home in the School District of Beloit, where she served in the Media and Technology Services Department from August 1978 through February 2014. To students and friends of Brad, she was more than a staff member, she was a safe place, a steady smile and a listening ear. Many, including Sheldon, Howard, Kevin, Nate, Phillip, Barrett & Carl, lovingly adopted her as their "second mom," a title she wore with quiet pride.

Her love for animals was fierce and unwavering. She believed they deserved protection because, as she would say, "they did not have a voice of their own." Her cherished dog, Dior, held a special corner of her heart. As did her previous furry babies, Zeus, Jake and Brandye. The neighborhood birds and squirrels never went hungry on her watch. Her backyard was less of a yard and more of a sanctuary.

Above all, Pattie's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Zack Dotson; her whole world, her son, Bradley Oliver; Step children Jeremy and Moneki; her treasured grandchildren, Shakeva, Louryn, Bianca, Leland, Jayvion, Devonte, and Dade; step grandchildren Kyle, Je'Keisha, Joshua, Abigail and Naomi; and her adored great grandchildren, Shariah, Levi, Armani, Isiah, Bianca, Chase, and Grayson. She also leaves behind many special friends who were family in every way that matters, including but not limited to: Sue, Sallie, Loraine, Teresa, Dean, Dr. Tom Johnson, Ruth, Beth, and Phyllis.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gene and Elaine Barbera, First husband, Otis Oliver and step grandchild, Hy'Kyme.

Pattie's life was not measured in grand gestures but in steady love. In early mornings, in encouraging words, in late night memes, in full bird feeders and open arms. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to echo in memories, conversations and backyards. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service for Pattie will be held at the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Fellowship and condolences will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Howard Spearman officiating.
