Patricia Kaus Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Ann Kaus unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Lone Tree, Colorado. She was born on October 31, 1947, in Grinnell, Iowa to Frank and Madeleine Herbrandt. After graduating from Brooklyn High School in Iowa, she received a degree in Human Resource Management from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado. She married the love of her life, Norman (Norm) Kaus, on August 28, 1993, in Denver, Colorado.

Pat had a career spanning over 20 years with the State of Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. She was a dedicated walking, running, and physical exercise enthusiast. Pat loved baking for friends and family and was passionate about reading and journaling. She was curious about her family's genealogy, successfully researching as far back as the 1300s. Pat and Norm loved her family and remained close to them by traveling often to Iowa and Belgium, as well as welcoming them to Colorado. As world travelers, they also visited many locations across America, Canada, Mexico, French Polynesia and Europe. Pat lovingly compiled photographs of their travels into a collection of picture albums. Pat was so beloved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Madeleine Herbrandt and her brother-in-law, Roger Gritsch. She is survived by her husband, Norm; two sisters, Francine (Denny) Austin, and Loretta Gritsch; stepdaughter Elizabeth Kaus Kramer and her children, Alec Thurston, Vanessa Thurston, and Circe Kramer; stepson Matthew Kaus, his wife Ashley and their son Conner; honorary family members Samantha Lawrence and Teale Mueller; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends and neighbors.

Services are pending, please check back for the details.
