Patricia Ann Kelly nee Murphy, age 97, of Park Ridge, IL, passed away peacefully March 3, 2025.
Pat was born on January 9, 1928, in Chicago, IL to William and Mary Ellen Cavanaugh Murphy. Pat was affectionately known by many names- Patsy, Patty, Mom, Mama, Nanny, PAMPK, and Sister Mary Closer. She attended Trinity High School in River Forest and attended St. Mary's College at Notre Dame. On May 6, 1950, she married the love of her life, the late Jack "Jake-O" Kelly. In 1960, they settled in Park Ridge, where they built a beautiful life together with their children. Pat's happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends, whether in Park Ridge, at her family homes in Lake Geneva and Longboat Key, or out on the town.
Though small in stature, Pat was a force to be reckoned with as she was the rock and matriarch of her large and loving family. When Mom/Nanny spoke, everyone listened. She brought laughter and warmth to all who knew her, from her family and friends to her children's close friends and even total strangers. She continuously expressed how grateful to God she was for the many blessings in her life and will be remembered as caring, humble, and selfless.
Pat, cherished wife of the late Jack Kelly, beloved mom of six children: Jay (Jan) Kelly, the late Mary Kelly, Susan Sweeney, Lisa (Walter) Sanford, Jim (Patti) Kelly, and Rob (the late Sue) Kelly; devoted and loving "Nanny" to eleven grandchildren- Erin (Kevin) Donohoe, Courtney (Andrew) Middleton, Kelly (Kyle) Zanon, Kristen (Dan Fincham) Kelly, Jake (Catherine) Sweeney, Kevin Kelly, Brendan Sweeney, Abby (Ryan) Pederson, Megan Kelly, Meredith (Clint) Walker, and Mary Kelly-and 5 great-grandchildren Maddy, Jack, Ally, Blair, Tommy. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill (Mercedes) Murphy and Margo Michael.
Pat was always ready with a quick quip and never turned down the request for the spontaneous "Party at the A- Frame!" in Lake Geneva.
