Patricia King Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Patricia King passed away peacefully earlier this month in Wellington, FL at the age of 81. Her parents were, Marjorie and Melvin, of Bethesda, MD. Her family moved to West Palm Beach in 1954. She was an adoring sister and friend to her two sisters, Melodee and Barbee.
Patricia was known for her positive, joyful spirit and her genuine love of fun. She enjoyed singing and dancing, and she turned every activity into a source of laughter for her children and grandchildren. She was incredibly artistic, and poured those talents into her garden, as well as into her many other hobbies -- ceramics, macramé, flower-arranging, arts and crafts projects, giftwrapping, and decorating Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren. She had an incredible green thumb, and everything she touched became more beautiful. She could take any room or bit of land and turn it into something really special. To know her was to love her.
Patricia married William "Bill" E. King in 1966, and they had four children. Together, she and Bill owned and operated Badcock Furniture in Lake Worth, FL for 25 years. She was well-known to the customers there for her bubbly and kind personality. After Bill's death, she found love again with Timothy Schwartz, whom she married in 2005. She and Tim enjoyed dancing, traveling to Europe, wine tasting, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
When her children were young, Patricia was very involved in her neighborhood and church community in West Palm Beach and later on, Lake Worth. An avid supporter of her children's passions, she was often seen attending baseball and football games, chaperoning marching band competitions, attending choir concerts, and shuttling children to sports practices, swim meets, and flute lessons. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, neighbor, and friend.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, William, her son, Billy, her grandson, Jack, and her sister, Barbee. She is survived by her husband, Tim, who lovingly cared for her in her later years; her sister, Melodee Digby; her children, Perry King, Holly King Phillips, and Natalie King; and her cherished grandchildren, Claire Meadows Phillips and Jonathan King Phillips, as well as adored nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and dear friends. We are grateful for every moment we had with Patricia. She left the world brighter, her legacy of joy living on in her children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church Hypoluxo, 7479 Overlook Road, on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to wear floral attire in honor of Patricia's love of flowers and gardening.
A reception will be held in the fellowship Hall immediately after the Service.
