Patricia "Pat" Lord, age 81, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She was born in NYC, NY on April 14, 1942 and was the loving daughter of Alfred and Helen Lord. She was raised in the Bronx, along with her sisters Christine and Diane. There, she graduated high school and attended a secretary training program.
As a young adult, she moved to Connecticut to raise her sons, Dennis and James. She was a single mom who worked multiple jobs to provide for her kids. When they were young, she worked as a waitress and bartender, taking as many shifts as possible. Once they were older, she switched careers and became a phlebotomist for Quest Diagnostics, where she thrived. She was employed by Quest for over 20 years, and during that time she earned a reputation for being kind and sympathetic to her patients. In fact, she was stopped by many people outside of work who thanked her for the stellar care she provided to their loved ones.
Outside of work. Pat loved reading, watching movies, attending mass and going to the beach. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She frequently visited her sisters in New York and New Jersey. She spent summers on the Jersey Shore with her favorite aunt. Always the caretaker, she frequently babysat her grandchildren and picked them up from school on many occasions. They always enjoyed time with their Nana.
Pat traveled as often as she could, going on vacations with friends to many tropical locations. Her favorite trip though, was one she took with her family to Ireland. While there, she visited the childhood home of her mother, and connected with people who knew her family.
Pat was the beloved mother of Dennis and James (Jodi) Trudden. Proud grandmother to Kayla (Joseph) Panela, Rachel, James and Julianna Trudden. Great-grandmother to Leo, Mia, and Zoe Panela. Devoted sister to Christine Lord and Diane (Joseph) Ferrara. Aunt to Richard (Alice) and Stephen (Amy) Ferrara. Niece of Jeannette Post. She was predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law Geraldine Lynch.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 16th, 4:00-7:00 pm at North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 17th at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St Francis Church, 397 Ferry St. New Haven. Interment will be private.
