Patricia Ann Mitchell was born on February 9, 1947, in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. On Friday, December 13, 2024, in the comfort of her home in Williamsburg Virginia, the Lord called Patricia Ann Mitchell to eternal rest. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence in the lives of her loved ones will be deeply missed.
In 1967, Patricia graduated from Berkeley High School, Williamsburg, Virginia, where she was an active marching band member and played the saxophone. At an early age, she gave her life to the Lord and became a faithful member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where she served in the choir and on the usher board, always embodying a spirit of devotion and service. Patricia was known for her warm heart, unwavering faith, and love for her family. Her life touched many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Kiana N. Mitchell; parents, Audrey Pearl Vines and Jack L. Vines; husband, Gerald B. Mitchell; sister, Shirley Hopkins; brothers, Alton Dean Moore and Jack A. Vine; and brothers-in-law, Alfred Hopkins and Leroy Copeland.
She was the devoted mother to her children Bridget Moore (Brian S. Moore Sr.) and Marques Mitchell, (who is engaged to Beth Keller and will marry on May 2, 2025.); cherished grandmother to Marques Mitchell Jr., Zabbion Minga, Jada J. Mitchell, Ritchie Messicks. Leah Moore and Brian S. Moore Jr. Patricia is also survived by her beloved brother Jarvis E. Vines; sister Emma L. Copeland; sister-in-law Tempie Vines; loving aunt Clementine Darden; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home.
