Patricia Kennett Moore (Patt) passed away peacefully at Pathways Hospice on May 19th, 2024. She was a teacher, banker, tireless volunteer, devoted wife and mother, and dear friend to many.
Born August 20, 1939, in San Francisco, California to John and Dorothy Kennett, she grew up in Los Angeles, Hayward, and Lafayette, California, with siblings Joann and John. She graduated from Acalanes High School (1957) and attended the University of California at Davis, where she received a BA in Home Economics and a teaching credential (1961). She met Chester G. Moore Jr. (Chet) there, and they married in June 1962.
She started her teaching career at Placerville High School and moved to Winters High School after she and Chet married. They spent two years in Washington, DC, where Patt served as a tour guide for family and friends who came to visit while Chet served as a scientist for the US Army.
From DC, they moved to Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, where Chet had accepted a position at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez. What they expected to be a 2-3 year adventure in Puerto Rico turned into 13 years. During that time, Patt raised two active kids, wrote a cookbook, lobbied Congress for new school buildings for the Department of Education schools (Antilles), maintained an active social life, and substitute-taught a variety of courses at Antilles. Patt and Chet actively explored the history and culture of Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands, collecting art along the way. She made lasting friendships, and survived a few hurricanes, too.
After Puerto Rico, Patt and Chet moved to Fort Collins. Once she got over the initial shock of the difference in climate, Patt started establishing roots that would grow over the next 40 years. In Fort Collins, they bought a house where they lived for the next 42 years. Patt was an avid gardener and shared the abundance of her vegetable garden with neighbors and friends. Once the kids were established in school, she joined Home Federal Savings & Loan (eventually Key Bank) for approximately 20 years. She served as a greatly-appreciated community liaison for the bank, actively fund-raising for the United Way and serving on funds distribution committees. She was active in the CSU Women's Association, Plymouth Congregational Church (a regular in the prayer shawl knitting group), and many other groups within the community. Patt was an energetic organizer of many activities and projects and an active supporter of the arts to the end. She was cherished for her listening ear and support for her family, friends, and community.
Patt enjoyed traveling and learning about the history, people, art, and food of the places she visited. She especially enjoyed annual trips to Half Moon Bay for coastal time and to visit family and friends. She celebrated any (and all) holidays with food and loved sharing with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Chet, children CG (Jamie) and Megan (Ben), siblings Joann and John, and grandchildren Ian, Lila, Vivian, and Duncan.
Patt's passing is a great loss to those who knew her, but her memory will live on through the many lives she touched. She was an avid supporter of many charitable causes, in her memory please consider a donation to one particularly dear to her, Project Self Sufficiency, in lieu of flowers. A celebration of her life is being planned for a later date.

I knew Patt and Chet through church worship at First Presbyterian in Fort Collins. She was always pleasant and friendly and I had no idea of her many past accomplishments. She made valuable contributions to so many -giving of herself to family and others wherever she lived. I offer my heartfelt sympathy to Chet and her family.
