She was born in Staten Island, NY on August 10, 1947, grew up in Miami, FL and finally settled down in Houston, Texas. She graduated with a BSN from Corpus Christi A&M and also received her Masters from Houston Baptist University. She started her career as an RN at Driscoll Foundation Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas and retired from Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas, but not before meeting her best friend and husband of 17 years at bible study. Patricia was a devoted Christian and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She found great pleasure in being surrounded by her family and friends, serving others, and taking any and every opportunity to escape to the beach.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Edward Bird; four living children, Katherine Lee Richter, Grant Michael Richter (Valerie), Lauren Bohn (Jeremy), Brett Bird (Kate); step dad, Frank Schaefer; sister, Ruth Anderson; brother, Phil Schaefer, Sr. (Pia); nephews, Phil Schaefer, Jr. and Alex Anderson; niece Jessica Schaefer; and her extended family and friends.
