Tupelo – Patricia “Pat” Dean Homan Vandiver, age 79, was welcomed home into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 1, 2025. After a full life of love and laughter, she passed peacefully surrounded by the family she so dearly cherished.

Pat was born on June 17, 1946 to AC Homan and Teenie Dean Homan. From her earliest days, she was known for her bright smile and kind heart – qualities that only deepened with time. She was a woman of deep faith who lived with gentleness, strength, and joy. Her home was a place of welcome for family and friends alike, often filled with food, laughter, and a warmth that came straight from her heart.

Her children and grandchildren often say she “prayed them through life,” and her faith-filled hands were rarely still. They held babies, stirred pots on the stove, wiped away tears, planted flowers in the yard, and were folded daily in prayer.

In January of 1964, she married Richard “Buddy” Vandiver, the love of her life, and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Their marriage was a living example of love that endures through every season. Buddy adored her with a steady devotion that never wavered, and Pat loved him with the same faithfulness.

Pat’s life was marked by her steadfast faith and gentle spirit. She was a devoted mother to their three children: Mike, Janie (Robert), and Mandy; the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Katie, Molly (Zack), Ben (Virginia), Anna Porter (Walt), and Meg (Nolan); and three great-grandchildren: Logan, Tate, and Reese. Each of them brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Teenie Dean Homan, who died July 5, 2019; brother, James Rodney Homan, who died July 4, 2000; and great-grandson, Ryan “Tate” Haygood, who died November 7, 2023.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Plantersville Global Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow at Plantersville Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Pegues Funeral Directors are entrusted with the care of her arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Zack Haygood, Ben Baylis, Walt Maddox, and Nolan Warner.

Though our hearts ache with the loss, we rejoice in knowing she is now with Jesus. She is healed, whole, and surrounded by glory – we have such a blessed reassurance and peace in knowing this to be true.
