Patricia (Brown) Rentsch, 79, of Plainville, wife of Raymond F. Rentsch, passed away Tuesday (December 24, 2024) at Southington Care Center. A New Britain native, she lived in Plainville since 2005. Pat was a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1963 and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in New Britain, where she contributed her time and heart to both the church and its school. Pat did office support work for several area dentists, but her greatest joy was her second "career" helping care for her grandchildren. Those who knew Pat will remember her selflessness, devotion and love she had for her family.
Besides her husband Raymond, she leaves a son, Karl Rentsch and his wife Susan of Unionville; a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" DeBisschop and her husband Kevin of Farmington; two sisters, Cheryl Brown of Newington and Edith "Edee" Modifica and her husband Robert of New Britain; three granddaughters, Haley Rentsch of Old Lyme, Sydney and Lauryn DeBisschop, both of Farmington; and two nieces, Christine Modifica and Sherry Muir and her husband Justin.
The Funeral Service and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements. Please share a memory or note of sympathy at www.carlsonfuneralhome.com

Our deepest condolences to the entire Rentsch family.

So many fond memories of Pat but the memory we cherish is when Pat, for some unknown reason, decided that she would play matchmaker to a young Lutheran school teacher renting the third-floor apartment in her home and a not-as-young Assistant District Attorney and former neighbor living at the time on Long Island. After a group "date" at a Chili´s restaurant, with Cindy sitting between the intended "match," a long-distance relationship began and just a short four months later the couple were engaged with Pat the first person to receive the engagement news.

We are that couple and we will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this April. Pat´s matchmaking led to a wonderful life together. We are certain that without Pat we would not have found each other and for that we will be forever grateful to Pat.
