In Loving Memory of Patricia "Patty" Marie Riggle.
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Patricia "Patty" Marie Riggle, 48, of Yukon, OK, who departed from this world on March 1, 2024. Her family, friends, and everyone who knew her will deeply miss her.
Born on July 4, 1975, in Long Pine, CA, Patty was the beloved daughter of Edward and Nancy Long, who are currently in Oklahoma City, OK. Her family moved to Crescent, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Crescent High School in 1993. Patty attended Southern Nazarene University and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1998 and a Master's Degree in English as a Second Language from the University of Central Oklahoma.
She started her teaching career at Columbus Elementary School in Oklahoma City in 1999 and moved with them to Jackson Elementary, which is now known as Mary Golda Ross Middle School. Patty was known for her dedication and love for her students. She was also a great mentor and champion for new and seasoned teachers. She had a contagious smile, a kind heart, and a zest for life. She brought joy and laughter to everyone she met.
In 2000, she met the love of her life, Shane Riggle, and they excitedly began their lives together on November 17, 2001. Not long after their marriage, they settled in Yukon, Oklahoma, and were later blessed with two children, Sofia, 18, and Jordi, 28. Shane and Patty loved to go on ocean cruises and often shared their passion with others. As a devoted wife and loving mother, Patty poured her heart and soul into creating a nurturing and loving home. Her children were the light of her life, and she leaves a legacy of love, resilience, and strength that will continue to inspire future generations.
Patty was an active member of Faith Church in Oklahoma City, devoting her time and energy to serve our Lord and Savior.
In times of joy and sorrow, Patty was a pillar of support, offering comfort and understanding to those in need. Her empathy and ability to connect with others made her a cherished confidante and faithful friend. The void left by her absence is immeasurable, and her memory will be forever etched in our hearts.
As we mourn Patty's death, let us remember the beautiful moments shared, the laughter echoed, and the love she showered upon us all. In honoring her memory, let us strive to embody the kindness, compassion, and grace that defined her remarkable life.
Preceding her in death are her paternal grandparents, Edward and Virginia Long, and maternal grandparents, Charles and Helene Walters.
In addition to her husband, Shane, and children Sofia and Jordi, Patty is survived by her parents, Edward and Nancy Long, brother Tommy Long and wife Tasha of Oklahoma City; sister, Pamela Taylor, and husband Charles Gilpin of Yukon, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. for the family and from 6-8 pm for the public at AE Funeral Home, 7721 NW 10th St., Suite B, Oklahoma City, OK, 73127.
A celebration of life service for Patty will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at Faith Church, 12201 Warwick Drive, OKC, OK 73162.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests gift card donations from Mardel, Lakeshore, and Amazon be made to Mary Golda Ross Middle School, 2601 S. Villa Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, 73108, a school dear to her heart.
May Patty rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave during her time with us. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories we hold dear.
