Patricia Ann Drischel was born on March 17, 1949, to parents William and Catherine Drischel in Springfield, Illinois. She grew up in Dallas, Texas. She married Earl Simon in Dallas in May 1980 and gained an instant family. She and Earl lived in several places, including Dallas, Winnemucca, Nevada, and Monte Vista, Colorado, before retiring to Amarillo.
Pat spent most of her working years in insurance as a claims adjustor. She retired from AIG after many years. At her job, she made a number of lifelong friends.
Pat loved to travel near or far and took tons of photos wherever she went. To her credit, she organized all of those photos in albums. She could pull out a travel album and stir up the memories of that trip. England, Scotland, Greece, Taiwan, and the Netherlands, not to mention her domestic journeys. In fact, she was recognized for organizing memorabilia for her 25th high school reunion… A match made in heaven. And she loved sports. A die-hard Cowboys fan. She and Earl had season tickets for the Dillas baseball team and had a lot of fun watching those games.
Pat was known and appreciated for her thoughtfulness and beautiful smile. One of her trademarks was sending birthday cards, sometimes, multiple cards. And they always arrived on your birthday. She was fun to be around and had a warm personality. She greatly enjoyed all of the grandkids who called her “Granny Pat”.
She moved to Independence Village several years ago. She liked the closeness of the community. She looked forward to meeting friends for a lively dice game of Farkle every afternoon.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Earl, her parents, William and Catherine, and her beloved in-laws, Jim and Pat Simon. She is survived by her step-daughter Virgie Waldrop and step-son Vince Simon; grandchildren Jon Waldrop and wife Sherry, Jennifer Waldrop, Heather Branesky and husband Chris, Zac Simon and wife Sarah, Bailey Holtman and husband Shaun, great-grandchildren Melody, Gavin, Lily, Sofya, Jazmyn, Eli, Jonah, Ruby, Aahliyah, Ashton, Zoie, Maddox and three great great grandsons Miles, Monte and Merlin as well as many many cousins. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
