Patricia "Pat" Lee Thoeni, 85, of Carrollton, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025, at Life Care Center of Carrollton.
Pat was born on August 30, 1939, the daughter of Owen and Katherine (Borchert) Malicoat. She was united in marriage to Vernon D. Thoeni of Carrollton on November 29, 1958; he preceded her in death on June 7, 2001.
Survivors include: two sons, Vernon Dale (Emma) Thoeni, Jr. of Manaoag Pangasinan, Luzon, Philippines and Charles Allen "Chuck" (Kelli) Thoeni of Carrollton; daughter, Debbie (Steve) Cook of Oak Grove; five grandchildren: Matthew (Beth) Thoeni, Joshua (Andrea) Cook, Jenna Cook, Bailey (Frank) Johnson, and Emma Thoeni; two brothers, John (Becky) Malicoat of Blue Springs and Rick (Jan) Malicoat of Exeter; sister, Jeannie Mueller of Liberty; her fur baby, Mikey; several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Owen and James Malicoat.
Pat was raised and educated in the Kansas City area while her father worked at Ford Motor Company. She graduated from Ruskin High School before marrying and embracing the life of a farm wife in Carroll County. Alongside raising her family, she worked tirelessly on the family farm, helping with crops, livestock, and daily chores. She maintained a large garden each year and took pride in canning the fruits of her labor.
Beyond the farm, Pat was deeply involved in her community. She was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Norborne and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served as a Bible school and Sunday school teacher. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she lovingly instilled Christian values in her children and grandchildren.
Pat found joy in simple pleasures-nurturing her flowers, crafting, and losing herself in a good book. She adored her family, cherishing every moment with her children and especially delighting in spoiling her grandchildren. When she and her husband could steal a moment together, they enjoyed golfing with friends at the Carrollton Country Club, making treasured memories on and off the course.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Norborne Trinity Lutheran Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190,
Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M.
