Patricia Ann "Patsy" Thomas

Patricia Ann Thomas, known as "Patsy" to close family and friends, 86, of Shickshinny, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her home with family by her side.

Born on April 16, 1939, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Batzel) Wittenbrader. On June 21, 1957, Patricia married Abraham Thomas and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage before his death on March 29, 2013.

She was a 1957 graduate of Northwest Area High School, the first year it was open, and worked for many years as a custodian at the school.

Patricia was an active member of the Sunshine Full Gospel Church, Shickshinny, and, in her younger years, taught Sunday school and was the church organist.

She enjoyed playing the piano, spending time with her grandchildren, and cooking. For 30 plus years, Patricia was a dedicated foster mother and loved raising children.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister at birth.

Surviving are two sons: Fred Thomas and his wife Wendy and Michael Thomas and his wife Tammy both of Shickshinny; one daughter: Alice Thomas of Shickshinny; three long term foster children: David Vincent and his wife Randi of Nescopeck, Jack Bartleson and his wife Charlotte of Louisiana and Arnie Bartleson and his wife Michelle of Shickshinny; dozens of foster children; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren with a third on the way.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 77 N. Main Street, Shickshinny. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 77 N. Main Street, Shickshinny, with Pastor John Ritchey of Sunshine Full Gospel Church, Shickshinny, officiating as Celebrant.

Interment will be in the Scott Cemetery, Waterton.
