Patricia Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home (Southside) - Jacksonville on Mar. 19, 2026.
Patricia Ann (Weyman) Thomas

April 21, 1951 – March 16, 2026

Some people have a way of making you feel at home, no matter where you are. Patricia Ann (Weyman) Thomas was one of those people. With heavy hearts, we share the news of her passing on March 16, 2026, at the age of 74.

To her family, she was known as Trish, Mom, or Grammy. To her friends, she was Pat or Patty. And to so many who knew her through the years, especially at Famous Amos, she was lovingly called "Patty Lou." No matter what you called her, she had a way of making people feel seen, comfortable, and loved.

Patricia was born on April 21, 1951, at St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the oldest of three sisters and carried that role with quiet strength and lifelong devotion. She attended Englewood Elementary School, Southside Junior High School, and Englewood High School, where she was active and involved, including playing boundball, something she was remembered for being especially good at.

In her early adult years, Patricia embraced adventure, including a memorable chapter when she moved to Orlando with her best friend. They took jobs, built a life, and fully embraced the excitement of something new.

Patricia was known for being outgoing, kind, and genuinely warm. She had a natural way with people, whether they were family or strangers. She would check on others, make sure they were okay, and always offer help if it was needed.

She spent three decades, as a server at Famous Amos, where she became a familiar and beloved presence to many. As "Patty Lou," she did more than serve meals… she created connection. People remembered her not just for what she did, but for how she made them feel.

She was a hard worker who truly loved being around people. Conversation, laughter, and simple shared moments were where she felt most at home.

Patricia had a free spirit and a unique sense of style. In her younger years, her home reflected her personality… filled with music, beaded curtains in the doorways, and incense burning, creating a warmth that made it feel like its own little world. To this day, the smell of incense brings loved ones right back to her.

She loved music, especially The Beatles and Vince Gill, along with folk and country sounds that matched her soul. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and later found joy in playing bingo.

More than anything, Patricia will be remembered for how she made people feel. She made people feel loved, safe, and understood. She had a way of turning even the simplest moments, like a grocery store trip, into memories filled with laughter and joy.

Patricia's greatest love was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Holly Stitz (Patrick); her grandchildren, Cheyenne Stazenski, Megan Stitz (Brian), and William Stitz; and her great-grandson, Theo Stitz-Smith. She is also survived by her two younger sisters, Terry Hanson (Scott) and Sandy Rothang (Dennis); her aunt, Hazel Wynn; her cousin, Cheryl Kramp (Mark); four nephews, two nieces, and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Weyman and Lois O'Steen.

Patricia's faith was an important part of her life, guiding her and giving her strength. That same faith now carries her home.

A visitation will be held on March 30th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moloney-Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd S., Jacksonville, Florida.

A graveside service will take place on March 31st at 11:00 AM at Long Branch Cemetery, 5500 Long Branch Cemetery Rd., Jacksonville, Florida.

Though she is no longer here in the way we wish, her presence remains… in laughter, in music, in the scent of incense, and in the way we care for one another. Because a life like hers doesn't fade… it stays.
