Patricia Wendt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Soller-Baker Funeral Homes, Inc. – Lafayette Chapel on Dec. 10, 2025.
Patricia L. Wendt passed away on Saturday December 6, 2025, at her home, surrounded by those she loved.

Pat was born on September 2, 1936, in Rensselaer, IN to Raymond and Louise (Odom) Houston. She was raised on the family farm in Francesville, IN, and could drive a tractor and hold her own with any farm hand. She graduated from Francesville High School, and married the love of her life, Ralph Wendt in 1954. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage. After moving to Lafayette, Pat and Ralph, and their children joined Immanuel United Church of Christ. Church was an integral part of their family life.

Pat loved going to the movies and was a fierce and knowledgeable critic. While she was always kind, her competitive nature shined through in rambunctious games of Euchre and Blitz. A voracious reader, Pat was the go to in the family for book recommendations. A lifelong fan of the Purdue Boilermakers and the Chicago Cubs, her loyalty was never in question. Pat would always opt for dessert over dinner and was known to carry a bag of Twizzlers in her purse when visiting family. Most importantly, Pat had a way of making everyone she talked with feel like they were the most important person in the room. She was deeply invested in the lives of family members and never passed up the opportunity to learn more about them and their adventures. From youth sports games to choir performances, and from college adventures to career advancements and disappointments, she was incredibly supportive.

Surviving with her husband, Ralph Wendt, of Lafayette, are her children: Sheri (David) Harris, of Indianapolis, Jim (Kelly) Wendt of Zionsville, Steve (Karyn) Wendt of Zionsville, Jennifer (Vic) Wiggins of Nicholasville, KY, and a sister, Brenda Krug of Indianapolis. She is also survived by some of her favorite people, her twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Joy Runk and Mary Ann Halsema.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am, until the service at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 1526 S. 18th Street, Lafayette, IN, with Dr. T.J. Jenney officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Pat's name, to Immanuel United Church of Christ. You may leave condolences and memories at www.soller-baker.com.
