Virginia A. Coopman

Virginia A. Coopman, 87, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Creasy Springs Health Campus. She was born July 28, 1938, in Clarks Hill, IN, to the late Bryan and Mary (Weaver) Snell. Virginia graduated from Clarks Hill High School in 1957 and on May 16, 1959, she married Ralph L. Coopman in Clarks Hill United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2025.

Virginia worked in cafeteria at McCutcheon High School for 34 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, sewing, ceramics, baking and was known as the "Cookie Lady" at McCutcheon High School.

Surviving are her children Lori (Gary) Smith of Odell, Carla S. (Brittany Fuller) Coopman of Ormond Beach, FL, Bruce A. (Melissa) Coopman, grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Tad, Nathaniel, Joshua, Danielle, Alec, Bridgette, Katelyn, Garrett, Dylan, Brandon, and Wesley; great grandchildren, Miranda, Hope, Joseph, Lilly, Jonathan, Killian, Davis, Wesley, Coralei, Kai, McKenna, Aili, Dallas, Indy and Navy; and great-great grandchild, Romen. Also surviving is her brother Ronald Lee Snell of Clarks Hill. Virginia was preceded in death by her children Cheryl Coopman-Sears; Kevin Coopman; grandchildren, Erin Coopman, Ava Sears, and Travis Lange; and great-great grandchildren, Alexander and Crystallyn Walker.

Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until the time of the service at 2:30 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Michael Hawthorne officiating. Interment will be at Clarks Hill Cemetery in Clarks Hill, Indiana.
