Patricia Ann Worley, SCN, 92, (formerly Sister John Francis) was born June 4, 1933, in Roanoke, Va., to Alvin Worley and Ella Louise (O'Brien) Worley. She died September 5, 2025, in Louisville, Ky. She was a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 69 years. Sister Pat's first ministries were in education. Beginning in 1956, she taught seventh grade at St. Joseph School in Bardstown, Ky. She also taught seventh grade in South Boston, Mass., and at St. Mary School in Richmond, Va, where she also served as principal. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Spalding College in Louisville. She earned a master's degree in theology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. After earning her master's degree in theology, Sister Pat served as the director of religious education for five years at St. Mary Parish in Richmond, Va. As a pastoral associate, Sister Pat served in Southside, Va., and at Holy Rosary Parish in Springfield, Ky.
From 1986 to 1999, Sister Pat was the assistant director and coordinator of volunteers at the St. John Day Center for the Homeless in Louisville.
Sister Pat served her SCN Community in many ways. She served in formation and vocation promotion at Nazareth for several years. She served her Sisters as a community service coordinator, and she later volunteered at Nazareth in various roles.
She is survived by her SCN Community and her extended family, which includes 24 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.
Sister's Wake will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 10th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Nazareth. Her Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. also at St. Vincent Church, followed by burial in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery. The service will be streamed at Nazareth.org/live.
