Catherine Ann Dennis

Catherine Ann (Brunton) Dennis, 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones after living courageously with cancer for fifteen years.
Born on December 1, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Charles M. and Wanda (Baker) Brunton, Cathy's life was defined by kindness, optimism, and grace. She worked for Jefferson County Public Schools as a teacher assistant, where she shared her gentle heart and patience with countless students and families.
In July 2010, Cathy was told she had only months to live. True to her spirit, she proved every prediction wrong for fifteen extraordinary years. Through multiple recurrences and treatments, she remained positive, grateful, and full of life. Her strength and quiet determination inspired everyone who knew her. She faced every challenge with courage and never lost her smile.
Cathy was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she never missed a chance to celebrate their joy. She had a rare ability to make others feel cared for and understood. Her warmth made people instantly comfortable, and her presence lit up every room. She was genuine, selfless, and loved by all who knew her.
For nearly two decades, Cathy dedicated her time to supporting Team Kentucky in the Transplant Games of America and to advocating for organ donation through Donate Life Kentucky. Her commitment to helping others was one of the many ways she shared her generous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda (Baker) Brunton, and her brother, Daniel Brunton.
She is survived by her father, Charles M. Brunton and his wife Barbara; her loving partner, Sylvester Sivils; her children, Beth Ann Dennis, Stephen Louis Dennis Jr., and Michael James Dennis and his wife Casey; her grandchildren, Francis James Dennis and Penelope Catherine Dennis; her brothers, Patrick Brunton and his wife Pamela, and Timothy Brunton and his wife Kristie; her sister, Susan Stidham; and many extended family members and friends who will always carry her memory in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cathy's life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, and grace. Her kindness and light will always be remembered.
