REBECCA LYNN "BECKY" WALKER, 64, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
There are great lessons to be learned in life about living and about dying. Becky Walker taught all who knew her a Master's Class in each.
Becky grew up in Louisville's Fairdale neighborhood where she was able to spend cherished time with her beloved grandparents, Charlie and Flossie Vettiner. Becky attended Doss High School and graduated from Bullitt Central High School in 1978. Becky's love of life was evidenced there as a member of the golf team and as an alto in the school chorus (an ensemble so praised that they released an album). Becky was a member of the Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She served on the Student Council in her senior year. Becky attended Georgetown College where she studied education and was an avid Kappa sister. She earned her Master's Degree in Education at the University of Louisville. She taught Kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grades at Brooks Elementary School for ten years. Becky retained close ties with her fellow teachers, her Sorority Sisters, and so many friends she met along life's pathways. Becky loved spending time with her family and her friends and traveling with Jimmy, Lacy and Abby with Colorado and Dollywood among her favorites!
Becky espoused a strong faith in God and the Christian faith from her earliest childhood. She and her family have long been members of Southeast Christian Church. She shared her Christian faith whenever and wherever she could and rejoiced in leading many she met to a shared faith in Jesus Christ.
Becky's survivors include her devoted husband James Walker, her daughters Lacy Walker and Abby Walker, her father Harold Craig (Trish), her mother Patricia Dukes (Gene), her brother Jeff (Joy), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Charles Jacob and Flossie (Tolle) Vettiner and Granville and Ollie Mae (Polston) Craig and cousin Pamela Porter Galloway.
Becky was a firm believer in the power of prayer and used even her terminal illness as an opportunity to share prayer requests with so many in need and with hundreds of similarly-minded followers of Christ each evening before she sought a time of rest. Becky believed that God was using her and her suffering as a witness to others. She proclaimed that she was in the service of a loving God. She remained a loyal and willing servant. She never lost faith. Becky's fight for life was as intense as it was inspiring. Though faced with nearly impossible health challenges, Becky had the courage to cherish every breath gifted to her. All who are left behind will shed tears, but forever hold fast to her memory. She has passed, but every thought of her brings smiles to all who knew and loved her. The joys and wonders that Becky beheld in each new sunrise will never set thanks to the multitude of happy memories shared by her family and friends
Funeral services for Becky will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road in Jeffersontown.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, and from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Ratterman & Sons.
Burial services will be at 12:00 noon Monday, October 13, 2025 at Duncan Memorial Cemetery, Crestwood, KY.
