LaVonne “Bonnie” Braun, 86, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 12, 1938, in La Grange, Kentucky to Frank and Willanna Kerby, Bonnie lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and a heart devoted to serving others.
Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend whose legacy is defined by the way she cared — with grace, kindness, and unwavering dedication. As a homemaker, she poured herself into creating a warm and welcoming home, lovingly meeting the needs of her husband Arnie and daughter Patti. Her servant’s heart was evident in all she did, not only for her own family but for the entire community.
Known affectionately as the “neighborhood mom,” Bonnie extended her care far beyond her own home. Whether volunteering as a room mother at school, serving in her church, or simply offering a kind word or warm meal to a neighbor, she made everyone feel like family. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved.
Bonnie was also musically gifted, blessing many through her participation in the church choir and her ability to play the piano by ear. Her beautiful singing voice and joyful spirit added light to every gathering.
In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: savoring her son-in-law James' delicious cooking, learning from her favorite TV and game shows, and doing laundry with a meticulous, almost artful touch that made even the most ordinary tasks meaningful.
Bonnie's life was a beautiful example of love in action. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and were fortunate enough to be touched by her generous spirit, her gentle wisdom, and her unfailing kindness.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 39+ years, Arnie A. Braun; brother, Billy Harris Kerby; sister, Carole Kerby; and her parents, Frank Kerby and Willanna Chisholm Kerby.
Left to cherish her memory, Bonnie is survived by her loving daughter, Patti Durbin (James); sister, Linda Lyddan (Gary); sisters-in-law, LaVerne Green and Thelma Spencer; brother-in-law, Gary Braun; many nieces/nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Bonnie Braun will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 2 PM to 7 PM; and prior to the funeral service from 10 AM to 11 AM, at the funeral home. Entombment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the funeral service.
