April 5, 2024, Patrick Harvey Canary, 89, of Deerfield, Illinois passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Barbara (Bowers) at his side.
He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Elmer and Dorothy (Gselle) Canary on January 8, 1935. He has one sister Nancy Rogers (Steven) and nephew David Rogers and niece Susan Heenan.
He attended Wichita East High School where he was President of the National Honor Society, and a varsity State tennis player. He has a bachelor's degree in industrial management from the University of Kansas in 1957 and a master's degree in business from Harvard Business School, 1961. Mr. Canary's certifications include certified public accountant, 1971, certified management consultant and senior industrial engineer. He is a past president of the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago.
While his career and work life were very important to him, he loved to play as well! He loved to ski, water ski, play tennis, and spend time with his family. His "happy place" was Apple Canyon Lake where he spent time boating, entertaining family, kayaking around the lake, and enjoying happy hour with a cold Heineken.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Barbara; children: Becky (Pate) Gustafson of Riverwoods, IL, Christa (Kevin) Deford of Herndon, VA and Tracy (Mike) Cizmar of Howell, MI; Cherished Grandfather of: Taylor (Jon) Kochmit, Reid (Colleen) Gustafson, Cali (Attila) Farkas, Sean Deford, Kelsey (Emile) Doak, Carly (Dan) Butala, Stephen Cizmar, and Patrick Cizmar; Great Grandfather of: Evelyn, Nora, Bette, Daphne, Charlotte, Milo, Virginia, Isabelle, Rosemary.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Patrick that will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 4:00 - 5:30pm with a prayer and eulogy at 5:30pm. This will be held at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home at 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL 60035.
