Patrick Cogan Spooner, 62, of Pompton Plains, died Sunday, September 26, 2021.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Born in Passaic, he was one of five children born to Thomas and Phyllis Spooner. Raised in Passaic, he was a 1976 graduate of Passaic High School.
Patrick started his career in the construction industry right out of high school, working first as a roofer. He opened his own company, Shamrock Design, and over his 40 year career became a master of all trades. He was an excellent businessman, and held a great reputation in the industry.
Marrying Janet Buettner in 1995, the couple and their daughter, Katelin, settled in Pompton Plains in 1998. A modest, low key guy, Patrick was always willing to lend a hand to his family, friends and neighbors. He always wanted to make sure he took care of everyone around him, and even in death, was able to save four lives by donating his kidneys and liver.
Patrick's most favorite pasttime was spending time with his family on their boat at the Jersey Shore, which they kept docked at the Lighthouse Point Marina in Toms River. Great memories of sunny days with the salt and sea in the air will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends.
Patrick is lovingly survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Katelin; his siblings, Michael Spooner and his wife Beth, Thomas Spooner III and his wife Shirley, and Pam Robertori and her husband Don; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother, Philip.
Memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am Friday at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Pompton Plains. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association in Patrick's memory would be greatly appreciated.
