Patrick Drohan, 79, passed away surrounded by family at his home in Rowlett, Texas on October 17, 2024. He was born in St. Louis on November 27, 1944 to proud parents Thomas and Harriette Drohan.
At a very young age, Patrick and his family moved to Chicago, where he graduated from Maine Township. Patrick was quite an athlete, excelling at basketball and baseball. This was evident from the pain he had in his knees. He was so great at basketball that he got a full ride scholarship to his college in Wisconsin, where he graduated with a master's degree in criminal psychology. After college, he used his degree to teach and coach at a school for delinquents. He spent several years selling fishing tackle with his lifelong friend Danny Waylander (died 2019), moved to Texas in the 70's, and eventually settled in the area after meeting his wife Shelley in 1984. Patrick worked in the security business for over 30 years until he retired.
Patrick married Shelley leap year at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas. His Mother, Harriette Sanchez, lived there until she moved to Texas where the family enjoyed her until 2016. She was laid to rest next to her husband Willie. Patrick enjoyed visiting and was known to make side trips to various fishing spots along the Colorado River. Fishing was Patrick's favorite pastime, but he was not limited to just one. He loved to cook, find new places to eat with his family, play board games, cards, tennis and racquetball. He also had a love for traveling, exploring different places such as the Hoover Dam, Laughlin, Ethel M's Chocolate Factory, Disneyland, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Utah, and St George for golf.
He and Shelley played golf with friends all over the area including Leatherwood in Farmersville, The Golf Course at McKinney, Woodbridge in Wylie, and Waterview in Rowlett.
He is survived by his wife, Shelley Bertoux; Daughter, Renee Rush; Son in Law, Derek Rush, Grandsons, Jacob Allen and Lennon Rush. Son, Derek and Brother, Michael. Mother and Father in Law, Harlan and Patricia Gerber
He is now reunited with his parents; Grandson, Austin Wester(1992-2006) and Brother in Law. Terry Gerber (1950-2023)
