Patrick Garza, 51, passed away on March 1, 2026, leaving behind a family and community that loved him deeply. Born on July 11, 1974, Patrick grew up in
Dripping Springs, Texas, where his roots ran deep in the town that raised him. He (Pooch) graduated from Dripping Springs High School in 1993, where he played both football and baseball and built many lifelong friendships.
Above all else, Patrick was a devoted husband and father. He shared a deep love with his wife, Katie Garza, the love of his life and partner in everything. Together they built a home full of laughter, love, and a place where their kids and their friends were always welcome.
Patrick was incredibly proud of his children, Cooper, Lane, and Kinsey, and being their dad was the role he cherished most. Whether it was sports, rodeo, or everyday moments, Patrick was always there giving 110%. Cooper rode saddle bronc, and Patrick was behind the shoots yelling "ride Cooper ride". Both Cooper and Lane played baseball, and Patrick proudly coached their teams, spending countless hours on the field. When the boys moved on to football, he was their biggest fan at every game, cheering them on and celebrating every accomplishment.
His daughter Kinsey held a special place in his heart. Patrick loved making jewelry for her and took pride in creating things she could treasure. He was always building or fixing something, whether it was a project for the house or a special surprise for Katie. Patrick could fix just about anything, and he loved working with trucks, tools, and firing up the grill to feed family and friends.
Patrick and his lifelong best friend and chosen family, Morgan Crow, could be found in the deer stand, on the golf course, at the barbecue grill cooking their kids favorites-ribs and brisket or hanging with their kids on any given weekend. Morgan's kids (Cash, Carson, Camdyn and Case), along with numerous others, fondly referred to Patrick as Uncle Chooch. His role as a chosen Uncle was a close second to being a dad.
Patrick had a generous spirit and a willingness to help anyone at the drop of a hat. He was steady, hardworking, and always ready to lend a hand. He was loved by so many and will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, and the way he showed up for the people he cared about.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Garza, who was lovingly known as "Buddy" to his grandkids. Patrick and Buddy were not only father and son but also best friends, sharing a bond filled with the best jokes, laughter, guidance, and the kind of bond that lasts a lifetime. Patrick often said that Buddy taught him how to be a man, a father, an electrician and a friend, lessons he carried with him every day.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Katie Garza, his children, Cooper (girlfriend, Shae and granddog, Opal), Lane (fiancé, Kaley), and Kinsey Garza, his mother, Janie Garza, his sister, Amanda Garza (husband, Lee and son Trey), his brother, Tommy Garza (wife Aimee), their daughters AJ and Harper.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, 11 a.m., at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby,
Kyle, Texas. Burial to follow at Phillips Cemetery, 26001 Ranch Road 12,
Dripping Springs, Texas. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
Patrick showed up for the people he loved, on the sidelines, in the arena, in the garage, or around the grill, and that is exactly the legacy he leaves behind.
