Patrick A. Getzin "Pat", age 87, who passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, was born October 2, 1938 to Kathryn and Gerhardt Getzin in Marshfield, Wisconsin. A lifelong resident of Wisconsin Rapids. He was educated at Assumption High School and St. Thomas College, St. Paul, MN. Married Mary Anne Schnabel September 3, 1960 and enjoyed 65 years together raising their 4 children. Pat worked in family owned highway construction and cranberry businesses and in later years as an owner operator leased to Nestle Transportation.
Pat lived a life defined by quiet strength, devotion, and unwavering love for his family. In his younger years, he was a gifted athlete, excelling in all sports and bringing honors to the fledgling new Catholic high school. Pat was inducted into the AHS Athletic Hall of Fame, was a proud fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. Ardent defender of the faith, especially pro-life - qualities that shaped his life and those around him. In his early years, he was proud to serve on the national cranberry marketing committee.
Though he was a man of few words, his quiet, steady presence spoke volumes. His strength, integrity, and humility left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Guided by his deep Catholic faith, Pat lived with kindness, generosity, and purpose, serving as a strong moral compass and example to his family and community.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend - a man whose life was reflected by the values of faith, family, and devotion.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sister Mary (Christenson), and brothers-in-law Pat Daly and Tom Christenson.
Pat is survived by his wife Mary Anne. His children: Kerry, Mark (Laura), Jill (Kalin) Lamp, and Kristin Barry. His grandchildren: Sister Alix Grace, Shelby, Maxwell, Kimberly (Brendan) Brosnan, Alex (Kirsten) Erdmann, Chase, Hannah, Elizabeth, Bridget Barry, Brenna, and Brooke. His great-grandchildren: Rhett & Elle Erdmann, and Maeve Brosnan. His sister Kathy Daly, brother Gary (Margaret) Getzin, sister-in-law Bette Jane Schnabel and brother-in-law Tom Schnabel.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Edenbrook for taking such good care of Pat for the last 6 months.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to Assumption Foundation Inc. for Patrick and Mary Anne Getzin Family Scholarship would be deeply appreciated.
