Patrick D. Gilmore, age 25, a man whose life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and resilience, left this world on June 7, 2024, at the age of 25 after committing suicide. Born in
Milford, MA, on August 30, 1998, Patrick grew up imbued with the warmth of a close-knit community and the strength of a loving family. He departed in
Millville, MA, after courageously battling mental health challenges, leaving behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who knew him.
Patrick's journey was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family. Madly in love with his wife, Alexia Kelley, he was a pillar of strength and affection for her and their three beautiful daughters, Caterina, Madison, and Mia. His mother, Mary C. Gilmore, and sister, Lauren E. Gilmore, along with Lauren's partner, Claude, cherished him deeply. He was the proud grandson of Daniel E. and Barbara Joyce Gilmore of Mendon, and John J. Laurence of Texas. Although predeceased by his father, Daniel E. Gilmore, and grandmother, Mary Ellen Laurence, their values and spirit lived on through Patrick.
His best friend, Patrick Fitzgerald, along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, will remember Patrick for his boundless love and the joy he brought into their lives. A graduate of the Blackstone School Systems, Patrick exemplified hard work and determination when he achieved his diploma from Penn State. His professional journey was marked by his passion for service and camaraderie, having worked at Quaker Tavern as a cook, at Kimball's in Blackstone, and most recently at EL Harvey, where he found great fulfillment in his work and formed strong bonds with his colleagues.
Patrick's zest for life was evident in his love for the outdoors and driving to random destinations. A hiker at heart, he conquered Mt. Washington multiple times, each ascent symbolizing his tenacity and love for adventure.
Above all, Patrick was the best and most loving father to his precious three girls.
In his life, Patrick embodied the words of Helen Keller: "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." His own challenges with mental health never overshadowed his ability to love and be loved. He was a beacon of hope, proving that even in the darkest times, the human spirit can shine brightly. Patrick's legacy is one of courage, reminding us that every struggle faced is an opportunity to grow stronger and more compassionate.
To know Patrick was to know love in its purest form. He was a man who gave his all, whether to his job, his friends, or the trails he so loved to explore. His hardworking nature was matched only by his loving heart, which he wore proudly on his sleeve for all to see.
