Patrick McCoy Obituary

Patrick (Pat) McCoy, 85, of Bradenton, FL, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on September 29, 2025. Born in Rochester, New York, Pat spent the first part of his life there before moving to Bradenton 53 years ago, where he built a life filled with faith, family, service, and music. Pat is survived by his loving wife Carol, two children, Michael (Tamara), Mitzi (Danny) Petty, three grandchildren, Jeremy Petty, Melissa Thompson, Samantha Petty and three great-grandchildren; his sister, Melody Wasko; and a cherished extended family including a nephew, niece, and their children and grandchildren.
Pat began his career at Xerox and Kodak in Rochester before continuing at Tropicana and Manatee County Utilities in Bradenton. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to operate his own lawn care business. Outside of work, he poured his heart into music, managing and playing drums for the Sunrise Band, which brought joy to countless people in the community. Pat and Carol loved to travel together, cherishing memories from Germany, Jamaica, and Alaska. A man of many interests, Pat also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and even breeding guppies, winning numerous national awards for his prized fish.
A devout Christian, Pat and his beloved wife Carol attended Church of the Cross, where they faithfully managed the food pantry and served those in need. Both he and Carol dedicated many years volunteering at The Daily Bread, living out their calling to care for the poor and hungry. Their compassion extended beyond the local community-Pat supported international missions and served on the board of a Haitian ministry.
Pat took great joy and interest in his children's and grandchildren's lives; he was "all in" with everything they did. He never missed a dance recital, band concert, or ball game. Early on, he served as a Cub Scout leader and Little League coach, illustrating the value of hard work, perseverance, and faith through his example.
Their home was a place of warmth and laughter, where everyone was welcome, and friends felt like family. He was known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, frugality, and genuine kindness. Those who knew Pat remember a man who lived humbly, worked diligently, loved deeply, and laughed often. There is no greater example of love than the way Pat selflessly cared for Carol in the final years.
A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel at Brown & Sons, 43rd St W on October 20th, 2025. Visitation begins at 10am and the service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or Meals on Wheels in Pat's honor. Pat lived his life as a faithful servant, devoted husband, and loving father. His life was a testament to quiet faith and steadfast love. 'Well done, good and faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord.' - Matthew 25:23
