Patrick McMahon Obituary

NARRAGANSETT, RI- Patrick J. McMahon (Lt. CPD, Ret.), a devoted public servant, loving family member, and passionate community advocate, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025. Born on June 29, 1967, in Providence, Rhode Island, Patrick made a significant impact on those around him throughout his life.

Patrick began his career with the Narragansett Police Department Reserves and as a dispatcher before dedicating three decades to the Charlestown Police Department, where he retired as a Llieutenant. During this time, a true public servant - Patrick played pivotal roles throughout the Rhode Island first responders community as well as being actively involved in statewide RI Emergency Mmanagement, regionalized SWAT efforts, various FEMA activities over the years - including giving assistance during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He is known throughout the police and EMS community as having an incredible hand shaping, guiding, and mentoring the careers of 100s of careers across the First Responder and Emergency Management community far and wide.

A proud alumnus of both Narragansett High School and Salve Regina University, Patrick earned his bachelor's degree and further pursued a master's degree in criminal justice, demonstrating his commitment to lifelong learning. After his retirement, he took pride in his role at the Block Island Ferry, where he took a more laid back role that allowed him to continue to serve his community.

Patrick was known for his generous spirit and unwavering desire to help others. Outside of his professional career, he spent much of his down time refereeing for the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, organizing adult soccer teams, showcasing his love for the sport and his unwavering belief in its power to unite people.

Beyond his career and community involvement,

Patrick valued a deep connection with his family. He is survived by his mother, Alda (Petrarca) McMahon of Narragansett; his brother, Andrew McMahon and his wife Holly of South Kingstown; his sister, Kate Macinanti and her husband Brian of Kingston; as well as his beloved niece, Jessica Macinanti, and nephews, Joseph Macinanti, Ian, and Owen McMahon. Patrick was preceded in death by his father, James McMahon.

Patrick's legacy is defined by his care and compassion for others, his dedication to service, and his unwavering support for his friends and family. He leaves behind a community that is forever grateful for his contributions and a family that will continue to honor his memory in their daily lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. VISITING HOURS Wednesday July 16th from 4-8pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rt. 1A), Narragansett.

There will be a uniformed walk through for all First Responders from 3-4pm. Uniformed personnel are requested to be assembled at the funeral home at 2:45pm. Visit NardolilloFH.com for online condolences.
