Robert J. Richard, 77, of Westminster passed away peacefully on July 15 2025.
Born in Gardner on August 1, 1947, to the late Ronald Richard and Vera (Jachi) Richard. Bob grew up in Gardner and graduated from Narragansett High School in 1965. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Worcester State College in 1970 and a Master's Degree in Education in 1975 from Fitchburg University.
Bob dedicated his life to education and service. He spent 30 years teaching science at Narragansett Middle School, where he inspired generations of students with his knowledge, kindness, and love of learning. He also worked for Wilson Bus Lines for 30 years, giving him the opportunity to travel throughout New England which he loved. He also devoted another 20 years to Cushing Academy, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues, students, and families alike. In his later years, he was employed for several years by Wachusett Brewery, where he made many friends and memories.
Bob was a proud member of the Otter River Sportsman Club and found great joy in the outdoors. He had a deep appreciation for nature and spent countless hours fishing. Bob was also a passionate Boston sports fan. He never missed a chance to cheer on the Red Sox, Patriots, or Celtics.
Above all Bob, who was affectionately referred to as "Buck" by those closest to him, cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. He delighted in attending his grandchildren's school events, sports games, and milestones-always offering a proud smile, a quiet word of encouragement, or a warm hug.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Roy) Richard of 49 years; his three children: Kristen Shea and her husband Christopher Shea; Matthew Richard and his wife Marisa Richard; and Kaitlyn Richard. He was the cherished "Grandpa Buck" of six grandchildren: Cora Shea, Connor Shea, Abby Shea, Evelyn Shea, Dillon Richard, and Owen Richard. He leaves a sister-in-law, Karen Roy, a nephew Jeffrey Roy and a niece Leslie Roy.
Bob will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his deep love of learning and nature, and the quiet, steady way he made life better for those around him.
