Obituary of Patrick Thomas Morbitzer
Patrick (Pat) Thomas Morbitzer, 64, of Lexington, SC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was born June 27, 1959 in Columbus, OH and adopted by Thomas Morbitzer and Sally Gould.
Patrick is predeceased by his father, Thomas Morbitzer. He is survived by his mother, Sally Gould of Westerville, OH, step-mother, Tina Morbitzer of Daytona Beach, FL, sisters, Susan Somers of Westerville, OH, Carole Pleasants (Scott), sons, Daniel Morbitzer (Lauren) of Chapin, SC and David Morbitzer (Katherine) of Charleston, SC along with six grandchildren Grady (11), Caleb (8), Stella Grace (7), Rebecca (5), Abigail (3) and Hannah (8 months) and a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was born in Columbus, OH, and spent his childhood in Westerville, OH. He was a proud graduate of Westerville South High School and a huge Buckeye fan. He attended the University of South Carolina as an honor student and graduated with a degree in Spanish. Over the next eight years, he served as a youth minister for churches in Virginia, Alabama and South Carolina. In 1989, he made his final move to Lexington, SC and continued his service as a youth minister. He finished his career working as a manager at Palmetto Gold and Pawn in Columbia, SC. He was a founding and long time member of Palmetto Church of Christ in the Irmo area.
Pat had a passion for ministry and impacted the lives of countless youth by sharing the gospel. Heaven will be filled with the lives of many people he led to Jesus. He loved playing basketball and was a lifetime Gamecock football and basketball fan. He loved being outside in nature and especially enjoyed fishing and spending time at the river. Pat loved the ocean and walks on his beloved Folly Beach. Nothing gave him more pride than his two sons, Daniel and David. He loved sharing his passions with them and being "Papa" to his six grandchildren. He was funny, loving, caring and thoughtful and will be dearly missed. We are thankful for the legacy he leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Palmetto Church of Christ, 7000 Nursery Rd, Columbia, SC 29212 on Friday, February 2, 2024 starting with a drop in at 3:00 pm followed by a brief service at 4:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Palmetto Church of Christ's Samaritan's Fund or the South Carolina Wildlife Federation.

With my mother“s permission, Big Pat checked me out of school in the 10th grade to feed me chili dogs and the Word of God once a week. His passion for discipline teens made a difference in my life...and countless others. Well done!!

Pat was indeed a gentle giant. He had a fun loving spirit and a zest for life. Being around him was always a pleasure and laughs were guaranteed. He touched the lives of many people and left this earth way too soon. My heart breaks for those who he left behind especially his family. God bless you Pat.

As a little girl, I remember Pat being the tallest man in the world. He used to pick me up and set me on his shoulders. Aunt Sally would tell him to put me down before he cracked my little head on the ceiling. He was a sweet man and he always made me feel very special. I'll see you again, cuz.
