Patrick Henry Morgan

Dr. Patrick Henry Morgan, Jr., D.D.S., a dedicated dentist with offices in Currituck County and Southern Shores, North Carolina passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC surrounded by his family. He was born on January 24, 1952 in Danville, Virginia. At the time of his passing, he was seventy-one years old.
Pat began his career in dentistry after serving as a member of the National Health Service Corp. from 1980 to 1982. He established his practice in Currituck County and Southern Shores, where he faithfully served his patients for many years, earning their trust and respect.
Outside of his profession, Pat devoted himself to his faith and community. He attended Pilmoor United Methodist Church, where he dedicated forty years of service as the organist. Additionally, he shared his musical talents as the Choir Director for twenty years. His commitment to his church family and his passion for music brought joy to the congregation. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. His living and dying was graced by dignity and courage.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of over fifty-two years, Sharon Ruth MacKnight Morgan. Together, they built a life filled with love, support, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his three children: Patrick Henry Morgan, III of Currituck, NC; Kristen Ruth Davis (Michael) of Durham, NC; and Dr. David Eric Morgan, D.D.S. (Megan) of Grandy, NC. His memory will be cherished also by his beloved grandchildren, Graham Patrick Morgan, Logan Michael Davis, and Grace Elizabeth Morgan.
In addition, he leaves behind his brother, Dr. Michael Baxter Morgan, D.D.S. (Robin) of Kitty Hawk, NC, and his sister, Kathy Irene Fredericks (Douglas) of Yorktown, VA. Their bond as siblings brought a sense of strength and unity to the Morgan family.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Henry Morgan and Mary Irene Shelton Morgan. Their legacy lives on through their son's life and work.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Pat will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Pilmoor United Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Tester officiating. He will be laid to rest at Moyock Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends and family on Friday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the church.
