Patrick, Ardell Reilly, a devoted family man, leader and man of faith, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in
Cumming, Georgia, at the age of 93. Born on March 11, 1932 in Detroit Michigan, Patrick spent his life dedicated to his family and career.
Patrick is survived by his children: Patrick Kevin, Kathleen Anne, Dr.James Wallace and Timothy Michael Reilly. He leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren: Nickolas, Kegan, Katie, Lillye, Jack, Regan and Rowan; and great-grandchildren: Cora, Adeline and Declan.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ardell and Mary and his beloved wife, Mary Jean, Patrick's life was a testament to his love and devotion. His family was the center of his world, and his faith guided him through all of life's joys and challenges.
Patrick's character and leadership shone brightly throughout his entire life. As a young man at Catholic Central, an all boys high school, he excelled in both sports and academics, serving as captain of the football and baseball teams. Patrick's achievements extended beyond athletics, as he was elected President of the Student Council, earning the distinguished honor of having his portrait featured on the Wall of Fame alongside past and present student leaders. This recognition speaks to his exceptional leadership skills and lasting impact on his school community.
Patrick's athletic prowess earned him a football scholarship to Washington State University. After his time at WSU, he transferred to the University of Michigan, where he played football for the Wolverines and pursued a degree in Industrial Engineering. Unfortunately, a practice injury cut his football career short, but his passion for Michigan football remained strong, with "Go Blue" becoming his enduring rallying cry.
Shortly after graduation, Patrick married Mary Jean, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. He then served honorably as a lieutenant in the United States Army, answering the call to duty. Following his military service, Patrick embarked on a successful business career. Notably, he spent many years as Plant Manager of Stroh's Brewery before advancing to the corporate office in Detroit. After a fulfilling career, Patrick and his wife retired to Fripp Island, SC enjoying his well deserved downtime.
Patrick's community service on Fripp Island included being elected Commissioner of the Fripp Island Public Service District, where he served as Vice Chairman and Chairman. This role allowed Patrick to contribute significantly to the community's wellbeing and development.
Patrick's passion for golf was truly remarkable. Playing in the annual FedEx St. Jude Pro-Am alongside golf legends like Phil Michelson and Chi Chi Rodrigues must have been an incredible experience for him. What's even more impressive is that he achieved two holes- in -one on each of the golf courses on Fripp Island.
But above all his accomplishments and successes, the most notable and admirable quality about Patrick was his faith in God. Patrick's deep devotion to his Catholic faith guided him throughout his life. His involvement in parish life, particularly as President of the Parish Council, a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Minister of the Eucharist at OLPH and later, Holy Cross, demonstrated his commitment to serving others and spreading Christ's love. By leading through example and mentoring others, Patrick embodied the values of his faith, inspiring those around him to do the same. His legacy as a man of faith and service will undoubtedly continue to impact the hearts of us all.
