It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Patrick Lloyd Sawyer, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 3 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, Vanceboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens.

Patrick was born to Lloyd Gilbert Sawyer and Janet Harrison Sawyer of Vanceboro, NC. He was the cherished grandson of Dorothy Marshall of Greenville, NC, and was preceded in death by his grandmother, Thelma Sawyer Alexander of Vanceboro, NC.

Patrick was a quiet, sweet soul whose smile could light up any room. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten even the hardest days. He loved his family deeply and shared an especially close bond with his sister Tonya. His four nieces and nephews (Kyra, Kemont'e, Brooklynn, and Bryson) looked up to him with admiration, and he held a special place in each of their hearts.

Growing up, his passion was to become a game designer. He loved building computers, gaming, and going to the movies with his friends. He cherished his lifelong friendships with Joshua Taylor and Alex Waters, which brought him joy throughout his life.

He was dedicated to his work at the United States Post Office in New Bern, NC, where his colleagues became his extended family. His strong work ethic, kindness, and loyalty touched everyone he worked with.

Patrick will be remembered as a gentle, bright spirit who loved quietly but deeply, who treasured his family, and who brought light into the lives of everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his sisters: Scarlet Sawyer Garris (Allan "Poncho" Garris) of Vanceboro, Mandee Leigh Norwood (Eduardo "Lalo" Medina) of Vanceboro, and Tonya Gail Sawyer (Terrence Mitchell) of Vanceboro. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces Krystal Norwood, Heather Mills, Kyra Sawyer, and Brooklynn Mitchell, and to his nephews Brant Mills, Kemont'e Koonce, and Bryson Sawyer. He also leaves behind his aunt Vicky Harrison of Vanceboro and Patsy Shepard of Bridgeton, and his uncle Eugene Sawyer (Vicky Sawyer) of Plymouth.
